Summer is soon here and now is the time for you to sign up to share your talents at a worship service.

Gather your friends and form a group—trio, quartet, sextet, octet or do a solo.  Parents of student musicians, encourage your children to do the same.  Those of you who have talented summer visitors encourage them to share!  Snowbirds, welcome back!  Now is your chance to participate! 

All of you are welcome to participate in a Saturday evening service or the Sunday morning services.  You may choose to do all three or to do just one in a weekend. Call Martha Thompson, 652-4361, to reserve a time!

Reception for Retiring Musicians

Retiring musicians Mary Linder & Helen Sheeran will be honored &  thanked for their years of service to Calvary the weekend of June 17^th.

Mary Linder started her organ career at age 12.  There was a special meeting to decide whether or not she could be the organist because she had not yet been confirmed.  She was organist throughout her high school and college years.  She became a music teacher and was again organist in the several communities in which the Linders lived.  She is not sure how long she accompanied the Calvary Choir, but it was at least 14 years.  She joined the organist crew at Calvary after Lucy Onstad’s retirement.

Helen Sheeran was a singer in high school.  When she became a mother she sent her children to the Cherub Choir at Calvary.  When her son Jake was about 7, the choir director left and there was no one to direct the young children.  Not wanting to see the choir die and leave Jake without a choir she volunteered to take on the group.  She enjoyed working with the children so much, that even when Jake outgrew the choir, she kept going!  Now after 14 years she is retiring.

     Please join us for cake & coffee between services on SUN JUN 17^th, to thank these fine musicians for their service to Calvary.

Journey Into Prayer

Join us for a time apart to tend to the holy.  Come for the whole day or come for part of the day as we are invited into a variety of prayer practices and discussions of the spiritual life.  All are welcome.  $20 suggested donation for each day.

How to Find Calvary Lutheran

Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids Minnesota is in the middle of town at the intersection of Highway 71, and Highway 34.  Look across the street to the west and you see McDonald’s. Directly north is Orton’s Convenience Store and gas station.  South of the church is the former Park Rapids Middle School, now remodeled into apartments for our community. We have plenty of parking in our two lots as well as on the street. Use the west doors to enter during the week day. Don’t you just hate it when you can’t figure out where the church is from the website? Oh and there is also a Google map on the About Calvary Page!

Gracious and glorious God, you have chosen us as your own, and by the powerful name of Christ you protect us from evil. By your Spirit transform us and your beloved world, especially the people of Malawi and Zambia, that we may all find our joy in your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

21 Pray for Pastor Arden Strasser who serves as an ELCA missionary in Lusaka, Zambia specializing in leadership development.

22 Pray for Dr. Mark and Linda Jacobson who serve as ELCA missionaries working at the Arusha Lutheran Medical Center in Arusha, Tanzania.

23 Pray for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East as they continue to seek solutions for the security, peace and justice of all people there.

24 Pray for Erin Odgers-Chew, an ELCA missionary working in Cairo, Egypt, as a teacher.

25 Pray for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota’s Camp Noah, which provides summer camp ministries to children and families impacted by the trauma of disaster throughout the country.

26 Pray for Stephanie Schmiege and Aaron and Allison Schutte who serve as ELCA missionaries, teaching in Bukoba, Tanzania.

27 Day of Pentecost

Mighty God, you breathe life into our bones, and your Spirit brings truth to the world. Send this Spirit to Botswana and Zimbabwe, transform us all by your truth, and give us all language to proclaim your gospel, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
