JUNE 2012 WELCA Mission: To mobilize women to act boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ.
Your Thankoffering box was a visual in your home that acknowledged God’s blessings. It was a tangible reminder to express your gratitude for God’s blessings. Boxes and monies were collected on Mother’s Day, May 13; approximately $1,500 was given in thanks to God . . .a sincere thank you to all who participated.
Mark Your Calendar! Saturday, August 11—a retreat at Northern Pine Assembly grounds. Calvary women are invited to spend a day together in Bible study, activities and prayer. The Gather magazine provides the Bible study entitled “Along the way: Road Trips in the Bible” by author, Julie Kanarr. Our retreat leader, Emily Meyer, will lead us through the day. Emily served at First Lutheran in Akeley and recently resigned parish work to pursue her interest in retreat ministry. We feel privileged to have her work with us in this retreat offering. We will gather at 8:30A for the first “cup” and close the day around 3:30P. Cost for the day is $20 and due upon registration. Materials for registration will be available soon.
The NW MN Synod is promoting Journey Into Prayer events. They are extending an invitation “for a time apart to tend to the holy.” There are various dates and locations available, if interested check bulletin boards for poster of information. Multiple dates and locations are offered (June 21 and July 23 and 26); locations posted. You are invited to come for the whole day or part of the day (sessions are 8:30 to 3:30). No pre-registration is required. A suggested donation of $20 is appreciated (lunch is not provided). These sessions are brought to you in partnership with the Fabric of Mutual Ministry, the Faith Practices Table of the Northwestern Minnesota Synod, and the Minnesota Institution for Contemplation and Healing (Micah). They are here! Registration forms are available in the church office for the 2012 Fall NW MN Women’s Synodical Convention to be held September 7-8, 2012, here at Calvary Lutheran Church. Its theme is “Living Boldly; Living Well”. Keynote by Dr. Debra Bell, from Crookston. Mark your calendar now to ATTEND workshops, worship services, Bible studies, and other events. . . it’s all coming to YOU HERE AT CALVARY!! To attend events, register as a participant; event helpers will also be needed.
In 2014, the WELCA Triennial Convention and Gathering is scheduled for July 24-27, in Charlotte, NC. Start saving up for the Gathering—a weekend of learning, inspiring speakers, worship and service in the largest gathering of women in the ELCA!
